People comment on your ads. Creativity reads the public comments on your own ads on Facebook and shows them next to each creative. It never replies to a comment, hides one or deletes one.

Why it is a second connection

Your ad account and your Facebook Page are two different things at Meta. The comments live on the Page post your ad delivers, not in the ad account, so reading them takes a Page connection with its own permissions. Your Meta ad account connection stays exactly as it is.

The permissions we ask for

  • pages_show_list: to list the Pages you manage, so you can choose the one your ads run from.
  • pages_read_engagement and pages_read_user_content: to read the public comments on your own ad posts.

Meta's dialog also lists ads_read and business_management, which your ad account connection already uses.

Creativity does not request ads_management and never will. Reading comments needs no write permission.

Before you start

  • Connect your Meta ad account first (Connect your Meta ad account).
  • Log in with a Facebook profile that has full control of the Page your ads run from.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Workspace → Data sources.
  2. On the Facebook Page card, click Connect. Facebook shows its login and permission screen, including the Page choice.
  3. Approve, then choose your Page in the picker.
  4. Click Sync now. The first read takes about 15 seconds; after that, comments refresh once a day.

Where the comments appear

Open any report, click a creative, and choose the Ad comments tab in Creative Insights. Comments are listed newest first, with the commenter's name.

Meta makes one Page post per ad, so two ads that use the same video can show different comments. That is expected.

Disconnect and delete

Settings → Data sources → Facebook Page → Disconnect deletes the Page token and removes the stored comments at once: the commenter's name, profile id and text are erased. The same happens if you remove the Creativity app in your Facebook settings. See Data deletion.

Troubleshooting

  • "No Pages listed." The profile you logged in with does not manage the Page. Disconnect, then connect again with the Page's admin.
  • "No comments on this ad." Nobody has commented on that ad yet, or the ad has not delivered.
